What Medicare pays for

Medicare Part B has a specific chiropractic benefit. Here's exactly what is and isn't covered so there are no surprises.

Covered
Spinal adjustment (manipulation) only. Medicare covers the hands-on spinal adjustment when it is medically necessary. This is the core treatment we provide.
Not Covered
X-rays, exams, and additional services are not covered under the Medicare chiropractic benefit. We will always discuss any costs with you before proceeding.
Not Covered
Maintenance care — visits to maintain your current condition after you have improved are not covered. Medicare only covers care that is actively helping you get better.

No. You do not need a referral from your primary care doctor. You can call our office directly at (858) 558-3111 and schedule your appointment. We will verify your Medicare benefits before your visit.

Medicare Part B covers spinal manipulation (the adjustment) only. X-rays, exams, and other services are not covered under the Medicare chiropractic benefit. We will always tell you what is and isn't covered before we do anything.

There is no set limit. Medicare covers as many visits as are medically necessary to actively treat and improve your condition. Once your condition has stabilized and you are no longer improving, Medicare coverage ends. We will always keep you informed about where you stand.

Bring your red, white, and blue Medicare card. If you have a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan, bring that card too. If you have any X-rays or MRIs related to your condition, bring those as well. We handle everything else.

It depends on the specific plan. Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurance companies and have different networks. Call us at (858) 558-3111 with your plan information and we will check before your visit. Common plans in the area include Humana, UHC Medicare Advantage, Aetna Medicare, and Blue Shield Promise.
