Jordan Loewenstein, D.C. | La Jolla Chiropractor
The boardwalk runner whose IT band flares at mile three. The bartender whose low back is done after a double shift. The beach volleyball player with a shoulder that won't fire. If you've been managing the pain instead of fixing it — this is a different kind of visit.
Yes. Dr. Jordan Loewenstein treats Pacific Beach patients at his UTC clinic, about 15 minutes up the road. He combines soft tissue therapy, spinal adjustment, and corrective exercise in one visit for back pain, neck pain, sciatica, headaches, and sports and surf injuries. Same-week appointments, most insurance accepted, no contracts.
"I've seen a lot of chiropractors over the years. Dr. Loewenstein is in a completely different category. He actually spends time working on you — not just a quick crack and out the door. My back hasn't felt this good in years."
Most chiropractic visits run 3–5 minutes. You're in, you're out, you feel okay for a few days. Then the same thing comes back.
Dr. Jordan Loewenstein runs his UTC-based practice differently. Every visit starts with e-stim and moist heat to loosen the tissue, moves into spinal traction and soft tissue therapy, then finishes with a full-spine chiropractic adjustment. Soft tissue work before the adjustment means the adjustment holds longer.
He also holds a Master's degree in Nutrition alongside his Doctorate of Chiropractic — a combination almost no chiropractor in San Diego carries. When recovery plateaus, nutrition is often part of the answer.
Located at 5151 Shoreham Place in UTC — about 15 minutes from Pacific Beach up Mission Bay Drive to the 52, with free on-site parking. An easy drive from Crown Point, Mission Beach, and the PB boardwalk.
This is the sequence — every patient, every time. The order matters.
Patients drive in from across PB, Mission Bay, and the coast. Here's what each pocket of the neighborhood typically brings through the door:
IT band syndrome, plantar fasciitis, runner's knee, and shin splints from miles on the concrete boardwalk.
Shoulder impingement, paddler's elbow, rotator cuff strain, and neck pain from duck-diving the Tourmaline break.
Low back pain from SUP and kayaking, thoracic tightness from rowing, and desk neck from the work-from-home crowd.
Beach volleyball shoulders, sprained ankles, and low back strain from sand sports and long boardwalk days.
Bartenders, servers, and baristas with chronic low back, neck, and foot pain from long shifts on their feet.
Gym and lifting injuries, plus desk-related neck and lumbar pain from professionals commuting to UTC and Sorrento Valley.
From PB boardwalk running injuries to beach volleyball shoulders to service-industry back pain — chiropractic care for the specific problem, not a generic protocol.
Dr. Jordan Loewenstein grew up around elite sport — his father worked with NFL teams during preseason training camps. That's where he learned what serious athletic care actually looks like. It shaped everything about how he runs his practice today.
He holds a Master's degree in Nutrition alongside his Doctorate of Chiropractic. Most chiropractors don't have this. When a patient's recovery keeps stalling, the answer is often in what they're eating, how they're sleeping, or how they're loading the tissue between visits — and Dr. Loewenstein can address all of it.
He also lives the lifestyle he recommends. Staying in peak physical condition isn't marketing — it's how he stays connected to what his patients are actually going through.
Pacific Beach sends us shoulders. Surfers off Crystal Pier and Tourmaline with impingement that will not settle, volleyball players with rotator cuffs that click, and boardwalk runners whose hips and low backs gave out before their legs did.
It is a younger crowd on the whole, and often a first visit to any chiropractor. That is part of why the first appointment runs 45 minutes: there is usually a lot to sort out before anyone touches you.
